This was a visit to a museum in London which to be honest I had never heard about until a few weeks back - the Garden Museum. Situated almost opposite the Houses on Parliament on the banks of the Thames it is a converted Church beside Lambeth Palace chosen because it is the final resting site of one of our most famous plantsmen - John Tradescant. He was best known as a plant collector and garden designer, designing many famous gardens both in this country and abroad. His son Tradescant the younger also made his name as a plant collector carrying on his fathers great work. The museum isn't that large but has a great collection of gardening tools, old magazines and so much more. Lovely coffee shop and restaurant on site. Well worth spending a pleasant morning or afternoon browsing through its collections.
