Potentilla Grace Darling

This is Potentilla Grace Darling in our garden in late September.   In the Garden Centre I worked in they eventually fell slightly out of fashion which is a great shame.   They are one of the hardiest shrubs and although the flowers are relatively small they smother the plant from early Summer through until the first frost.    We seem to be obsessed with trying slightly more exotic plants in our gardens probably spurred on by some of our favourite gardening programmes, however I live in Scotland and to be honest have tried some of the more unusual "hardy" plants sold by mail order companies and many - not all - have ended up in the bin or compost heap.   Sometimes the old favourites are the best
